On September 1, Pedro Alvarez joins the group. He is a Master in Physics by the University of Campinas in Brazil, where he developed an algorithm capable of simulating spin dynamics in quantum computers. In the group he starts now his PhD in collaboration with Peter Hore's group at the University of Oxford trying to better understand how magnetic fields affect Cryptochrome based magnetoreception.
