Ilia Solov'yov receives DKK 2.5M from the Independent Research Fund Denmark for the research project "Unraveling toxicity through bc1 complex inhibition by atomistic simulations". The three-year project will use atomistic simulations to study the mechanisms behind metabolic inhibitors used as antibiotics or antiparasitic drugs against e.g. the malaria parasite. A particular focus will be on the mechanism of acquired drug resistance in parasites, and the outcomes of the project could potentially aid in future drug development efforts.
