QBL at the SDU Open Day

On February, 23rd, 2019, the University of Southern Denmark hosted an "Open Day" event, which was attended by highschool students and everyone interested in learning about educational programmes at SDU.

Members of the QuantBio group were representing the Department of Physics at the event. Apart from distributing promotional brochures and engaging in communication with those visitors who were interested in physics, we prepared a virtual reality (VR) demonstration of various molecular systems that can be studied computationally. This became possible by using experimental VR tools in VIKING. The visitors could observe different 3D structures and interact with them, using an Oculus Rift headset and controllers. This feature was met with significant interest from the audience, and the whole demonstration, freely available to everyone, was a huge success.
